Thing #24 Thank you Carol

Hands down...this is the most amazing class I have ever taken. Thank you.

Thing #23 Review

Favorite? Thing 21-- Web 2.0. Will spend the summer playing w/those addictive little apps.

My life long learning took a 180 after the Middle School Conf. and continued the curve at the FTEC in Orlando. This is like the cherry on top...and over the top.

Using a bunch of the tools and would absolutely would take another class...still wanting the whole enchilada...all 48.

Thing #22 Audiobooks

Will spend more time w/this concept. Have never been a fan of the older version of this idea...remember cassette tapes? Can definately appreciate uses in the classroom using mp3s or ipods.

Thing #21 Podcasts

When computers first arrived on the educ. scene, teachers worried they could be replaced. With the use of podcasts teaching can be enhanced. Will explore this venue more next year.

Thing #20 You Tube

Ahhh -- the yen and yang of You Tube. I posted my vacation pics, watched an American Idol moment and used a 50s career promo to be a librarian. Also seen so amazingly bad stuff too. The yen and yang.

Thing #19 Web 2.0 Tools

At the beginning of this class I said I wanted to learn it all-- I can't. Wondered why we weren't doing 48 instead of 24 things...not wondering anymore. wow what a kick. You can't start w/just one. I need to quit my job and spend all my time with the tools.

Thing #18 Web based apps

One more thing to join...but discovered I like zoho apps more than google apps which crashed and wouldn't let me back in for 2 days. And bandwidth...how will district handle the online use?

Thing#17 PBWiki

T'he elementary media meeting and the lesson on PBwiki by Paul was very impressive. I'm planning on using the wiki we set up for the media meeting classes next year. Like the format...and the issue around lack of control because of the editing f eature would open the wiki up to a variety of opinions, well the way webpages work is one person designs a webpage and isn't that someones elses opinion?

Thing #16 - So what’s in a wiki?

So what’s in a wiki? At the next media meeting Paul will show how he is helping his elementary staff use wikis to plan, communicate and collaborate. Wikis in action.

This wiki will be to integrate technology into classroom curriculum. The Media Specialist is the guide and the expert to make this happen...now...but the future is even more exciting as teachers actually seen themselves as partners with the media specialist to provide interactive lessons for students. How exciting is this?!

Thing #15 - On Library 2.0 & Web 2.0

Library 2.0 & Web 2.0--now this is what I'm talking about. Ever since 10/09 Middle School conf. my mind has done a complete reversal in exactly what kids should be exposed too in order to protect them. The kids are here already 'there' and we, as educators are missing one of those exquisite, teachable moments. They use youtube at home. Do we ignore that they do or do we give them tools to use correctly? Protecting them through good info? Showing them how to do it right and ethically? Or do we let them free-fall w/out a net?
I don't know the answers--only that things are changing and changing fast.

Thing#14 Technorati

Technorati is interesting but a bit of a tmi site. I'm just becoming comfortable w/Facebook. All the personal info that seems to 'just happen' because someone you've not hear from in awhile pops up on your wall & seems to scream for a reply. So having even more access to my blogs through Technorati is kink of scary. But then so was FB 6 mos. ago

Thing #13 Delicious

I was using this site before the Things. Use it for personal use where ever I travel. And I am using this as a media share best websites site open to all media to add and use.

Several media had also started Delicious accts. Will see how progresses.

Thing #12 Search Engines

What I appreciate about Web 2.0 is how 'in control' these tools allow you to be. I am forever searching for ways that help media specialists share w/each other through every method available. Having a customized search engine may be a solution. Will need to try it out more.

Wikis, Moodle, a new, totally terrific web site sent to me by Paul  -http://www.tpack.org/tpck/index.php?title=TPCK_-_Technological_Pedagogical_Content_Knowledge

I want to run around asking "why aren't we using all these magnificent ideas?"
